Under the Tuscan Sun

Holidays in cooking schools have the advantage of keeping the single person busy in a social environment. You go to a destination, you cook all day with strangers, and you eat together. Everyone is too busy making food to get involved in your personal business. This is the kind of group holiday I can participate in.

I use the specialist travel company Gourmet on Tour to organize cooking trips. This one was at Relais Il Falconiere in Tuscany, which has a spa and a one Michelin-star restaurant onsite. I took three days of classes, stayed for five nights in total, and ate at the restaurant more than once. They feed you really marvelous food, and the menus at the cooking classes are practical.
