The artist

Sarah Tan is a Malaysian-born New Zealander based in London.

She is drawn to lines, geometric shapes and shadows. In her photography, she looks for layered meaning that tells a story; in particular, irony and romanticism. In her painting, she explores seeing and perception. She believes thoughts and feelings layer over each other in space and influence what we think is real; often concealing what is really there.
